PROTECT your iPad from Damage

If you are the lucky owner of a new iPad, you will quickly find that you are afraid of taking it anywhere. You don't want anyone to breath on it, much less put their grubby little hands on it. You are fearful of dropping it, but dying to show off the hottest product of the year. Hate the thought of getting a crack in that beautiful 9.7 inch high resolution screen? Afraid to put in your backpack?

You need protection. Serious protection. Protection that will keep you from having to make an insurance claim. Protection that will make you feel safe - safe to remove your iPad from your home. Safe to take advantage of one of the iPad's best features - its portability.

Protect it with the Otterbox APL2-iPAD1-20-C4OTR iPad Defender Series Case.

The Otterbox brand has proven itself to be one of the most popular choices when it comes to protecting cell phones, so it is a natural fit for them to use their designs and technology to protect your iPad too.

The iPad Otterbox Defender case wraps seamlessly around your iPad. It has three layers which create 'drop proof' protection. The case was also designed to work with the iPad dock accessory. This makes it very easy to charge at home without having to remove the Otterbox case. There is absolutely no interference with any of the functions of the iPad as a result of adding the Otterbox.

One of the best things about this iPad case, is that it is also an iPad stand. You will quickly realize once you start using your iPad that a stand would come in real handy. There are several reasons why a stand will be very useful to you:

  • With a keyboard, you can use the iPad as a monitor on a desk .
  • Use it to watch movies or instructional videos.
  • In the kitchen, you can use it like a cookbook stand to display your recipes.
  • You are going to want everyone to see it.

On the bottom of the stand there is rubber grip pads to prevent it from sliding off of a smooth surface. When you use the touchscreen, it doesn't move on you.

If you are familiar with the popular Otterbox iPhone cases, you may be thinking that it does a good job of protecting it from drops and scratches, but you want more protection for your iPad screen. You can just remove the back cover and snap it on the front to completely protect the screen when you've got to put it in a backpack or purse.

Otterbox APL2-iPAD1-20-C4OTR iPad Defender Series Case

The iPad Otterbox Defender case provides hard core protection. This series was developed to provide protection for iPhones in rugged environments - like construction sites. It does it's job well. However some may not need that much armor for their iPad, and might prefer the look of the Otterbox Commuter iPad case. It has a sleeker look to it that is right at home in an office environment.

My Ipad, which was in the Otterbox Defender is now in need a new screen. It fell off the couch, (approx 18 inches high) landed on a corner, and the screen shattered. Definitely would not recommend.

@Joseph - I hate to hear that because I know how much it sucks when something like that happens. I had a new Nexus One that was protected with a different product, and it's screen shattered too.

Unfortunately, there is no case sold with a warranty guaranteeing that there will be no damage to your iPad. For that, you need insurance and Apple has a pretty good plan if you choose to buy it.

I would have to say though, that there is probably no other case that would have protected your iPad in that situation. A corner is probably the most vulnerable spot.

I had a lady show me her IPad that has a huge chcunk goung out of the side from dropping it on caoncrete, yet the screen remained in one piece. I guess you jus have no idea what might make the difference. I think this cover would be better that doing without.

These defender cases do look very stylish and practical. I like the fact that the Defender case can also be used as a stand, that is cool.

More for my Christmas list, thanks for an informative hub.

Dobson - NO nonnononononononon! That is what I would be screaming. Preventative measures to protect your iPad will be well worth the cost.

Pro Design Source 21 months ago

Viking305 - that is what I love about the Defender case - it is 2 things in one. An iPad case and an iPad stand.

Anytime LeanMan! In fact, I've got a few more hubs of stuff you can put on your Christmas list! ;)

I have a defender series and have been using it for about 1 month and a half now. i love it. just make sure dont ever need to remove it. I have a smaller silicone case that i wanted to use for a while and now i can't get the ipad out of the otterbox case. this case will make your ipad heavier and bulkier, but its the best protection you can get for it that i know of(other than an insurance policy) having said that the stand feature is very convenient
