Murray Feiss Lighting Light Collections

As far as brand names in lighting goes, Murray Feiss is one of the best. I can say this from personal experience. I’ve used their lights in both my own home and in client’s homes, and have always been impressed with the quality and design of their light fixtures. As a designer, I like to know that when I order a product for a client, I can rely on it meeting my expectations, and with Murray Feiss lighting fixtures, I can.

When shopping for light fixtures, I look for a collection with a design that I like, and then I shop within that collection. Murray Feiss tends to offer a lot of options within each collection. For instance the Tuscan Villa Collection has everything from bathroom lighting to towel bars to foyer chandeliers. You can even get mirrors in the same finish as your lighting which looks amazing in a Master Bathroom. This is great for new homebuyers to easily make selections for their home.

Sometimes I want to mix things up and it doesn’t work to buy everything within one collection. I can still keep the finish consistent when working with something like the Murray Feiss Oil Rubbed Bronze finish. They do not change the finish names between collections, so I can use a wall sconce from the Boulevard Collection, and a Barrington collection flush mount ceiling light.

Murray Feiss also has a fabulous outdoor lighting collection. Again they offer a lot of options - from garage coach lights to outdoor post lights, even outdoor wall sconces are available.

Another reason I like Murray Feiss light fixtures, is because the quality of their lights is typically superior to the ones you will find at places like Lowes and HD. How so? You can tell mostly in the design. They don’t scale down the proportions of the metal to cut costs. Lots of the light fixtures you find in hardware stores will be copy cats, but won’t have the same scale and proportion. The end result is that they look cheap.

Since they do not skimp on their materials, they are not the least expensive manufacturer of lighting products, but they are reasonably priced. When comparing price to other manufacturers like, Kichler, Quoizel, and Besa Lighting; Murray Feiss is very competitive.

Some of my favorite collections to use are:

  • Tuscan Villa – Corinthian Bronze
  • Paris Moderne – Brushed steel, Corinthian bronze, Grecian Bronze
  • Barrington – Oil Rubbed Bronze, Brushed Steel, White
  • Fusion – Grecian Bronze
  • King’s Table – Forged Iron

You can see the complete collections on Amazon.

Should all of the light fixtures in my house be the same finish?

That is a very common question. There is not one straight answer, but here are a few guidelines.

  • In areas that are open to one another – meaning you can see the living room light fixtures from the kitchen and the kitchen light fixtures can be seen from the dining room – you should always use the same finish.
  • You can often use chrome or brushed steel finishes in a bathroom if your faucets are of the same finish.
  • You can also use different finishes in children’s rooms.
  • Often you will have to use pieces from 2 or more collections in your house. Try to use the same manufacturer and finish.

Sometimes homeowners skimp on the light fixtures because they see them as being functional only. If you consider how long you are likely to leave them hanging, they are well worth the cost of upgrading. They are some of the pieces that really define your home. Artwork, furniture, and electronics are replaced far more often than your light fixtures. Comparably, your light fixtures will be cheaper than your electronics and furniture.

If you did skimp and are now looking to replace your light fixtures, you can save some money by installing them yourself. You can also save when you buy lighting direct.

Lighting is such an important part of decor, and many people overlook it. These examples are really unique and beautiful.

My parents have an antique chandelier in their dining room, and that is one thing I have always coveted. It is covered with individual crystals that reflect the lights which are candle shaped. Some of your examples here are close to the feel of that chandelier.

lakeerieartists - You are correct, many people overlook the importance of lighting in their homes. Not just from a standpoint of how does this light fixture look, but also in relation to how well is this lighting functioning for me? Does it light the room and furnishings properly?

Crystal chandeliers are so timeless & full of elegance. I bet it is beautiful!
